Project Type: Featured Home Theaters

One of the most popular projects we have done recently is for a client named Graham M. He wanted a home theater in his basement. He first visited our website and then visited our main showroom. He stated he needed help choosing A/V equipment and help designing his home theater. He knew he wanted a projection screen and custom proscenium built around it. He wanted 2 lighted bookcase cabinets on each side of the projection screen to showcase his extensive DVD and Blu-Ray collection. He also wanted a kitchenette at the rear of the room. It is going to be a mix use room. This home theater will be ready to entertainment friends and family in a moment’s notice!
We knew this project was going to be different when Graham said he wanted a starfield ceiling! You don’t find too many clients that are so detailed. We love the challenge! The Starfield ceiling is composed of 6 FTI Fiberoptics 4’x4’ black square edge panels. These panels are automated by a wireless Control4 lighting switch. Three wireless Control4 lighting dimmers are controlling the ceiling pucks, wall sconces, and 6” ceiling cans. We used a Control4 HC-300 Home Controller to automate these lights. We installed a Control4 wireless 6-button keypad in the back side wall of the room (next to the door) to automate major functions. This eliminated the need of feeling around for a remote in a completely dark room.
The lower cabinets of the kitchenette are housing the audio/video components and they are vented by a “Cool Components” thermal management system. We used 5 Elan “2-speaker” wall plates and Genesis 14/2 speaker wire to prewire for a 7.2 surround sound system. We specified an Integra 3-zone 7.1 channel surround receiver to power all speakers except the subwoofers. ETI installed 3 Monitor Audio Silver LCR 6.5″ 2-way speakers in the proscenium. We also installed 2 Monitor Audio Silver dipole/bipole 6.5″ surround speakers in the rear side walls and 2 Monitor Audio 8” 2-way surround in-ceiling speakers in the back. To complete the sound system we added 2 Velodyne 12″ forward-firing subwoofers (inside the proscenium) that are powered by a Velodyne 200-watt subwoofer amplifier.
The final addition was an Epson 7500UB 1080P projector with a 110″ Stewart Filmscreen Fire Hawk projection screen. The Epson projector received power through a WirePath recessed 110v electrical wallplate kit that allowed the projector to be protected by a Tripplite 8-outlet isobar surge protector. The entire A/V system was plugged into this surge protector and a Tripplite 7-outlet UPS/surge protector. We also installed and automated the client’s DirecTV DVR, Sony Blu-Ray player, and Sony Playstation into this system. The entire A/V system was automated by a Control4 HC-300 Home Controller. We would like to say a word of “Thanks” to Wade Bowman (Cumming, GA) of www.plantationrenovation.com who provided excellent craftsmen in the construction of this beautiful UGA inspired Home Theater.
