Featured Project
Traditional Theater - Loganville, GA
Project Type: Featured Home Theaters

Well defined bass was the order of business for this client. The very traditional looking theater hides 4 subwoofers. Two of these monsters are hidden behind the screen proscenium and the other two are placed in the wall behind the fabric wall panels. A floating floor was installed in the room to help produce even more impact. This wooden floor is raised above the concrete slab of the home by rubber feet and isolated from the side walls, causing the floor to pulse with every low frequency sound creating a dramatic effect you can feel.
In order to create the look of a traditional theater we worked closely with the interior designer and the carpenters to layout and build all of the custom mill work. All of the panel’s dimensions and positions were laid out in a computer based graphics program to ensure a proper fit and help ensure the finished look that was desired by the client. The rear speakers were worked into the aesthetic design by building columns to house them behind acoustically transparent fabric. A special box was built in the rear of the room to encase the projector and make certain it remained out of sight.
With all of the sound being generated inside this room quite a bit of forethought was put into making certain that the sound remained inside the room. An acoustical analysis was preformed on the room and a plan was laid out. Traditional 2X4 stud construction of the walls created cavities that were then filled with rockwool insulation. Then sound deadening board was sandwiched between 2 layers of sheet rock. Finally on the outside of the wall we positioned reflective and absorptive fabric covered panels to finish out the treatment.
After the physical installation of the room was complete several hours were spent calibrating the audio and video system in this room. Multiple equalizers were inserted into the signal path to ensure every bit of the movie was realized in its full glory. The output from the projector was also setup to industry standards.
System Automation
A touchscreen remote control was chosen for this room to provide total system automation. This remote allowed us to position and group buttons in a way that made sense to the client and how they interacted with the system.
