Media/Game Room - Suwanee, Ga.

We got a phone call in late 2008 regarding a possible Game/Media Room project for a rookie Atlanta Falcon football player. The phone call came from Chevis Jackson’s agent. He is a defensive corner back for the Atlanta Falcons and was the same for the LSU Tigers before coming to the Falcons.

Mr. Jackson’s agent gave us exclusive access to Chevis and the Atlanta Falcons. We are excited to present our skills and expertise in Audio/Video and World Class Home Theaters to the Atlanta Falcons. We are looking forward to installing systems for the rest of the team!

Mr. Jackson’s system was one of those special challenges that allowed our expertise to shine. Since his Game/Media Room was in his finished basement, we had to figure a way to run the wires for the projector and the speakers. We realized the best way was to run the wires behind crown molding. This meant we had to install crown molding, caulk it, and paint it. We wired the room for surround sound 5.1. We put (2) Monitor Audio Surround Speakers in the rear of the room. We put a Monitor Audio center channel speaker on top of the Sanus 69″ wide espresso lowboy audio/video cabinet that was added into this project. Espresso lowboy was picked to match his home theater chairs, speakers, and “bean-bags”. We also put (2) Monitor Audio tower 6.5″ speakers on the left and right side of the espresso lowboy to complete the surround sound field. A Velodyne 10″ forward-firing subwoofer was added to replicate the low frequencies. We then added a Marantz A/V surround THX Select2 receiver to power these speakers. Sources include client’s X-Box 360 game system, client’s Nintendo game system, and client’s Comcast cable box. All these components and projector (used Wirepath electrical wall kit) are protected by a Furman 8-outlet surge protector.

When the sound system was installed ETI had 3 Berkline black home theater recliners sent via White Glove Delivery. This service brings the chairs into the house and assembles them. The chairs ordered included leather/vinyl combination, wall-away action, and cup holders.

The display device used was an Epson Powerlite Pro Cinema 1080UB Projector. The projection screen specified for this project was a Vutec 16:9 Vu-Easy 103″ Britewhite screen with black velvet frame.

ETI decided that a Universal Remote MX-3000 programmable color touchscreen hand held controller and Universal Remote narrow band RF base station with antenna was the best way to control this system. As you can see from the picture below, Mr. Jackson can’t stay away from his game/media room. As a side note: We had a hard time distinguishing whether the NBA game he enjoy playing was “real” or not. We contribute that fact to the new realism of game systems today, surround sound, the projector, and the projection screen.
